Extra Time

Collaboration with Tanzmainz company of the Mainz State Theatre (Staatstheater Mainz - Germany).
“Extra Time” could literally mean, additional time, parallel time, time happening elsewhere, or time out… Or simply another time. Indeed, this dance piece seeded and grew during a particular time, that of general lockdown, where time became something else than what is known to all or believed to be known to all. And so, in this piece, this ‘strange time’ which surrounds the dancers also creates as a direct consequence a ‘strange space’, as social distancing rules are also imposed between bodies. The dancers then must fight their solitude little by little to create new interactions, new contacts. Despite the remoteness, they must transcend the links that have been interrupted. Without ever touching each other, the dancers struggle to find some joy again. The simple joy of dancing. Thankfully, they succeed.
