The rhythm of the music in Scandal is clear, simple and direct. It is the rhythm of the air going in and out of the dancers’ lungs in this farandole. The breath as vital source of movement propagating through the empty space. It slowly escalates, capturing these bodies who innocently get caught. Later, the gasping, the jolting, the scansions, the whistles, the chants, the cries and the screams take over these organisms thrown into an irrepressible trance. And thus, until the silence chooses to ease their dance, ripping them away from this maelstrom of lost voices… Like a pause before it all starts again. Liberated and captive at the same time, this youth chants incomprehensible words of love, onomatopoeia of revolution or hopeful laments. The youth is at a loss of what to do with this storm of language and with its own words. It rather turns it into a rhythm, a music to dance to, and enter insanity, letting the energy of the bodies trip over to fall into the course of things. So that the scenes and scandals can be absorbed and tilted by time.
For the better and not for the worst.
